Background: Why the Change?

As of October 2022, a new Low Voltage Rescue (LVR) unit, UETDRMP007 - Perform Rescue from a Live Low Voltage Panel, was introduced to replace UETDRRF004. While both units cover similar skills, the key difference with UETDRMP007 is that it requires prior qualifications, such as an electrical licence or equivalent certification, to ensure participants have the necessary background in working with electricity.

However, the Australian Skills Quality Authority (ASQA) has not yet made UETDRMP007 mandatory, and the transition period has been extended until October 2025. To help our clients prepare for this change, we are offering dual enrollment in both units.

What Does This Mean for You?

  • Dual Enrolment: When you enrol in the LVR course, you will automatically be enrolled in both UETDRRF004 and UETDRMP007.

  • Prerequisite Evidence: To receive certification for UETDRMP007, you will need to provide evidence of prior qualifications, such as an electrical licence or relevant certificate. This can be uploaded through our Learner Portal.

  • Certification: You will be certified in one unit based on the evidence you provide. If no evidence is submitted, you will receive certification for UETDRRF004, which remains valid.

To meet the updated requirements, you need one of the following:

  1. Electrical License

    • Electrician's Licence (e.g. QLD Blue Card - Electrical Work Licence, Screenshot of Electrical Licence Register - but we will need to verify this then)

    • Line Workers Licence (Classes D, T, R, or C)

    • Switchgear Workers Licence

    • Restricted Electrical Workers Licence (Class 1 or 2)

  2. Electrotechnology Qualification

  3. Completed one of these units

    • UEECD0007 - Apply work and safety regulations, codes and practices in the workplace

    • UERDREL006 - Work safely near live electrical apparatus as a non-electrical worker

  4. Electrical Trade Certificate

FAQs

  • I've completed an LVR or ESI First Aid course before. Does that cover the prerequisite?
No, previous completion of a "Provide First Aid in an ESI Environment" or "Perform Rescue from a Live LV Panel" course does not cover the new prerequisite. You will still need to provide evidence of having completed one of the specified prerequisite units or their equivalent.

  • What if I don't have evidence of prior qualifications?
If you haven't completed these units or their equivalents, you'll need to do so before your next CPR/LVR training. Note: Real Response can not deliver the prerequisite units.

  • Can I complete the prerequisite after I've done my LVR training?
No, you must complete the prerequisite before undertaking your LVR training. Failure to provide evidence of the prerequisite will disqualify you from receiving your certificate.

  • Is this a one-time requirement?
Yes, once you've provided evidence of your prior qualifications, you won't need to do it again for future courses.

  • What's the deadline for providing these credentials?
We recommend providing these credentials before the commencement of training. However, a 12-week grace period will be offered post-training for those who may not have immediate access to their past qualifications. The prerequisite MUST be completed BEFORE your next LVR course.

  • How can I submit my credentials?
The next time you enrol with us for your Perform rescue from a live low voltage panel (UETDRMP007) there will be an additional assessment in your student portal that will prompt you to upload a copy of your certificate or transcript.

  • Who can I contact for more information?
For any questions around the Industry requirements, the new contact for the Electricity Transmission and Distribution Industry is Energy Skills Australia
